Bârzava (Hungarian: Berzova) is a small municipality (2,707 inhabitants in 2011) in Arad County, at the foot of Zărand Mountains, at its contact point with Metaliferi Mountains, on the Bârzava River. It is composed of 8 villages: Bârzava, Bătuța (Battuca), Căpruța (Kapruca), Dumbrăvița (Alsódombró), Groșii Noi (Garassa), Lalașinț (Lalánc), Monoroștia (Marosmonyoró) and Slatina de Mureș (Marosszlatina). Until 1918, BERZOVA was part of the Austrian monarchy, Hungary province, in the Kingdom of Hungary (Transleithania) after the compromise of 1867.
