Brezno (1927 - 1948 Brezno nad Hronom, German: Bries or Briesen, Hungarian: Breznóbánya) is a town (21,534 inhabitants in 2013) in central Slovakia.
Historically in the Empire of Austria province of Hungary (before 1867); in the Kingdom of Hungary ( ;; County) before the creation of Czechoslovakia in 1918.
