The Amulet of Emperor Tewodros (c1818-1868)
Notes: amulets were personal to the wearer and were normally buried with them. They contained compressed parchment documents. Tweodros committed suicide on April 13, 1868 at the time of the British incursion at Magdala; the amulet was scheduled for return to Ethiopia in 2003
