Correct Usage on Covers[edit]

Customs Duty[edit]

A letter sent from Malta in 1949 King George VI cover, deemed to have been posted with unpaid Custom's Duty and charged 2/6d. Customs label applied to show duty, additional 6d cost of Post Office recovering the duty fee. Total Due 3/- and paid in Due stamps on reciept. Comprising 1x 1/- Deep Blue, 4x 5d Yellow -Brown and 2x 2d Agate.

Registration fee due[edit]

A letter sent Faversham Kent, to Cantebury, Kent in 1937. Label applied by the Post Office to indicate that the cover was Compulsory Registered on its arrival in Cantebury, blue crayon cross and R label applied. Registration fee at the time was 3d so a double rate non-payment Tax due was imposed of 6d to the cover. It was deemed by the Post Office to have carried Coins and therefore should have been registered. 3d registration covered it for upto £5. Postage dues applied 3x 2d Agate.
