Melk (pronunciation: [mɛlk]) is a town (5,529 inhabitants end of 2017) in the Austrian state of Lower Austria, next to the Wachau valley along the Danube.
It is best known as the site of a massive baroque Benedictine monastery named Melk Abbey. It is the seat of the Melk Bezirkshauptmannschaft (one of the 22 Districts in Lower Austria in 1900).
