Description
Like the Australian Gold Medallists stamp issue, the Paralympian of the Year stamp employs new technology allowing the stamp to be placed on sale within days of the announcement. Prior to the award announcement a template was designed allowing the image of the winning athlete to be placed into it. The process used computer-to-plate technology and the stamps were printed using five colour offset.

The award for the Paralympian of the Year was presented to Siobhan Paton by the Australian Paralympic Committee on the evening of 30 October at the Australian Paralympic Committee’s Paralympian of the Year dinner.

The sheetlet of 10 includes a decorative selvedge.

Official first day covers were not produced but there was a first day of issue postmark offered. This postmark was Sydney NSW 2000.
