The establishment of the on-board post offices in 1893
This cumbersome procedure was only changed and accelerated by an ordinance issued on 21.11.1893, insofar as official mail and private mail already franked accordingly - depending on the destination - were sent in separate packages to the regionally responsible main post offices in Vienna, Trieste or Budapest had to arrange for further transport in detail.
Introduction of on-board postmarks in 1901
April 9th, 1901 can be assumed to be the beginning of the postal service on board the kuk warships using their own postmark, the date on which the onboard postmark of SMS MAGNET & SMS PLANET was put into use - at the time in Greek waters.
