From Stamps of the World

Thurn and Taxis is not an historical German state but a famous family which organized postal services in western Europe, and in independent German states as decided by the Vienna Congress in 1815. It issued stamps in the 1852-1867 period, before its transfer to the North German Confederation. It served entities which used Groschen (northern part) and Kreuzer (southern part) currencies.
