GB 1841 Line Engraved Trial on Dickinson Silk Thread Paper

A trial was made in full deep red using the 240 unit Plate 11, an experiment with the "Dickinson" paper with "silk" threads embedded in it. The first and last vertical columns of the stamps had no silk threads. The ink used blued the paper deeply. Eight sheets were printed, six of these being gummed, two ungummed, but there are only known examples without gum. This paper was not considered to be as safe as the watermarked paper.
