Homburg is a town (41,974 inhabitants end 2015), the administrative seat of the Saar-Palatinate district, the third city in Saarland. The medical department of the University of Saarland is situated here.
The city is also home to the Karlsberg beer brewery. Major employers include Michelin and Robert Bosch GmbH. Historically in the Bavarian province of Palatinate (since 1755);
from 1920 to 1935 in the Saargebiet.
Not to be confused with Bad Homburg in Hesse.
