Mettet (pronunciation: ​[mɛ.tɛ]) is a Walloon municipality (13,037 inhabitants end 2017) located in the Belgian province of Namur 1 January 2006 Mettet had 11,977 inhabitants. The municipality consists of the following sub-municipalities: Mettet proper, Biesme, Biesmerée, Ermeton-sur-Biert, Furnaux, Graux, Oret, Saint-Gérard, and Stave.

Postal history before 1910

The METTET post office opened on 1 February 1842. It used a Distribution code 36 with vertical bars, upgraded to a Perception 146 in 1850, and 247 with points before 1874. ST-GERARD on 1 April 1876, ERMETON-sur-BIERT on 24 January 1899, BIESMES on 7 Novembre 1900, STAVE on 19 January 1906.
