Nigg was named after the place of the same name near Aberdeen, Scotland. Nigg village is in the county of Berbice, on the South Eastern coast of Guyana.
Nigg village (Along with Belvedere, Guava Bush and Albion villages) was absorbed into the larger villages of Fyrish and Port Mourant, the Post Office opened in 1880 and still exists.
