Ribnica (pronounced [ˈɾiːbnitsa]; German: Reifnitz) is a town (3,612 inhabitants in 2020) in the Municipality of Ribnica in southern Slovenia. It is the seat of the municipality. It is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.

Ortnek (pronounced [ɔɾˈtnɛk]; German: Ortenegg) is a settlement (23 inhabitants in 2020!) in the Municipality of Ribnica. The railway line from Ljubljana to Kočevje runs through the settlement and the village has a railway station.
