90p ~ the Tristan lifeboat , out of sight of the island beyond Big Point, encounters heavy seas. The lifeboat was spotted by the West Riding but was then lost from sight (and never seen again)

  • Commemorates the worst disaster ever recorded in island history, to this day remaining a mystery. Almost all Tristan’s able-bodied men, 15 in total, had boarded the boat,
  • which had been donated to the islanders by the Admiralty for their use and to rescue shipwrecked people
