30 C.: The stamp motive shows the "Torre del Marzocco" ("Tower of Marzocco", other name: "Tower of Meloria") on a rock in the Tyrrhean Sea ca. 7 km northwestern of the harbour of Leghorn (Livorno). This lighthouse was built ca. in the 12th century in the then "Republic of Pisa", was later given to the Benedictine Order, after to the Augustinians, and after to the church "San Jacopo" in Acquaviva.
50 C.: The stamp motive shows the training ship of the Italian Navy "Amerigo Vespucci". The "Amerigo Vespucci" was built in 1925, commissioned on 26 May 1931, and is still in service. It is a 3-mast-full rigged ship with a sailing area of 2824 m² distributed on 26 sails.
1.25 Lire: The stamp motive shows the heavy cruiser "Trento" of the Italian Navy. This ship was built 1925-1927, commissioned in April 1929, sunken on 15 June 1942 in the Ionian Sea by a British submarine after the participation on a sea battle with British Navy units.
