Foot and Mouth Disease and Zoonosis Control
This 1979 issue from Netherlands Antilles was released for the 12th Inter-American Meeting at ministerial level on Foot and Mouth Disease and Zoonosis Control, held in Willemstad, Curaçao, from 17 to 20 April 1979.
Foot-and-mouth disease is a highly contagious viral disease affecting cloven-hoofed livestock, including cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. Zoonoses are diseases or infections that can be transmitted between animals and humans. The issue therefore reflects an animal-health and public-health theme, linking livestock disease control with wider regional cooperation in the Americas.
The stamps show livestock and official conference symbolism, including animals such as goats, horses and cattle. A miniature sheet was also issued for the same event.
