Postal history
The Main Post office in Newcastle occupied a prominent site near the Castle on St. Nicholas Street. Newcastle was a very busy office, and because of this it was rewarded by the GPO and a grand building was constructed. Whilst the building remains in Newcastle it is no longer used for any Postal Operations.
