Aschendorf is a place in the German municipality of Papenburg, state of Lower Saxony, and has a population of 8,444, according to the website of the municipality (December 31, 2020). Before 1932 it was the capital of the Aschendorf district and between 1932 and 1977 it was the capital of the former Landkreis Aschendorf-Hümmling.
