Bernissart (pronunciation: [bɛʁnisaʁ]) is a municipality (11,878 inhabitants end 2023) of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. The municipality consists of the following sections: Blaton, Bernissart, Harchies, Pommerœul, and Ville-Pommerœul.

Postal history before 1910

The BLATON post office opened on 21 April 1862. It used a Distribution code 9 (before 1864) and 43 with points before 1874. The POMMEROEUL post office opened also on 21 April 1862. It used a Distribution code 127 (before 1864) and 298 with points before 1874. The VILLE-POMMEROEUL post office opened on 18 May 1872. It used code 75 with points. The BERNISSART post office opened on 20 September 1880. The HARCHIES post office opened on 21 January 1883 (transformed to a relay in 1900!).
