From 1941 to October 1946 RPD Hamburg consisted of RPD Kiel and RPD Hamburg. In October 1946 it was split into 24a and 24b. 24a consisted of the Hanseatic state of Hamburg, the southern part of the Province Schleswig-Holstein, the northern part of Stade area and Luneburg.
