 1854 GB 1d Red cover Plate 173 IA (Cancelled Dorchester 256) sent from Cattistock Nr Dorchester to Corscombe, Dorset. Showing both despatch and receiver on front.  1854 Cattistock cover showing 2 transit marks of Dorchester receipt & dispatch, Halstock transit (Orange), Yeovil (Yellow). The Routing would have been Cattistock-Dorchester-Yeovil-Halstock and finally Corscombe, where it appears to have been re-routed back to Halstock. Even though Cattistock and Corscombe were only 5 miles apart there was no cross road routing so it had to travel the 37 mile by most direct postal routes |
