Stade is a city (45,772 inhabitants end 2014) and district seat in Lower Saxony, now part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. It includes the urban districts of Bützfleth, Hagen, Haddorf and Wiepenkathen. Stade is located near the Elbe river and the German Timber-Frame Road. Historically in the Kingdom of Hanover.
