Antonio Allegri da Corregio (30 August 1489 – 05 March 1534), usually known as Correggio, was one of the foremost painters of the Parma school of the Italian High Renaissance and the Mannerism, "...who was responsible also for some of the most vigorous and sensuous artworks of the painting of the 16th century. In his use of dynamic composition, illusionistic perspective and dramatic foreshortening, Correggio prefigured the Rococo art of the 18th century...."
