- the "Moscovite Empire-Style" in Russia (1400 - 1600)
- the "Mannerism" with focus to Italy, Spain, France (1530 - 1600) (sometime classified as "Late Gothic")

Main characteristics:
The art style of the Renaissance was characterized by a general upheaval to new creative ideas and the attempt of a revitalization of the cultural accomplishments of the Greek and Roman Antique. "...The intellectual basis of the Renaissance was its version of humanism, derived from the concept of Roman "Humanitas" and the rediscovery of classical Greek philosophy, such as that of Protagoras, who said that "Man is the measure of all things."". This new thinking became manifest in art, architecture, politics, science and literature....
One of the stylistic main charactistics of the Renaissance was also (among others) the application of the "linear perspective" (all lines are crossing outside of the picture, but landscapes have mostly no relation to the motive) and combined with that a deeper use of light and shadows as intensifying elements at the interaction between living matter and non-living matter. Characteristical was also an increasing, hesitant movement in the representations, if at all.

Generally seen is the art of the Renaissance relatively rare in Europe northern and eastern of the Alps. The main cause was the general impoverishness of whole landscapes and the there population due to many wars. If Renaissance artworks appear at all, than mostly only in the centres of the power, where was disponible also many money, among other.
