As postal services were being restored in Germany at the conclusion of the second world war, postal regulations required that any referral to the Nazi regime, its leaders, organizations, symbols had to be removed or obliterated from postage, postal envelopes or postage cancels. Reichspost however was tolerated on many cancels.
