Perry Street was open by 1844. It became a Money Order & Savings Bank office 1 October 1885 and transferred from a rural office to a town sub office 1 August 1888. On 1 May 1905 it became a telegraph office, code GPC. It was temporarily closed 3 June to 30 July 1998.

C.d.s. reading PERRY-ST / GRAVESEND with code, 23.5mm.

C.d.s code A on a postcard within Gravesend, 19 October 1893. The message is a request to play for Gravesend and Northfleet RFC against Charybdis Wanderers.
C.d.s code B on a Parcel Post label dated 27 December 1901. This is also recorded on piece, 31 March 1891.


Modern style c.d.s. reading Perry Street Gravesend Kent at top and code 3 at bottom. Star above date. 1 at the bottom seen on a certificate of posting 23 May 1967. A strike on a Valeur Déclarée cover of 12 October 1996 shows code 2 below. 4 below he date appears on a 29 August 1969 certificate of posting.
