Hanau is a town (89,907 inhabitants end 2013) in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis, in Hessen, Germany. Its station is a major railway junction. Until 2005, Hanau was the administrative centre of the Main-Kinzig-Kreis. Historically, capital of the District of Hanau, Electorate of Hesse (Kurfürstentum Hessen).
