In 1818 Jaipur become the British protectorate, the stamp of Jaipur state featured a Sun God on the chariot for 30 years. Jaipur joined the Indian union in 1948. The Jaipur Post Offices used a variety of Sun Cancels with many varieties to be found.
EDS types
EDS-1 No central line and date between two ornaments
EDS-2 The sun and the village name are divided by a two lined bar dated section running through the centre.
There are many different varieties mainly in the the face and ray of the sun to be found: As detailed by Banham. Some may be found with DELY for Delivery (which are despatch dated for its delivery). It is possible to find different types of cancels used on the same cover as the letter or postal card travelled through Jaipur to its delivery address.
