Neunkirchen (pronunciation: [ˈnɔʏnkɪɐ̯çn̩]) is a town and a municipality ((46,369 inhabitants end 2015). It is Saarland's 2nd largest city, and the seat of the district of Neunkirchen. It is situated on the river Blies.
Historically in the Prussian province of Rhineland; from 1920 to 1935, and again from 1947 to 1959, use of postage stamps issued specially for the SARRE territory.
