Why does the White MX not show as a variety in the SG catalogue?

It used to be listed as a variety of coloured cross, mainly associated with Cheltenham/Cirencester. However it is now thought to be a reduced (although they call it 'oxidised') state of the ink used and was originally red/pink. Using hydrogen peroxide to re-oxidise the stamps have shown reversion back to their original colours. Ian G (talk)

Hi John, It's not shown as a 'distinctive' cross (that's another page) its shown as a 'colour of cross' on this page. As I said the expert assessment by the rpsl/gbps is that it is a changeling. Sorry Ian. I have just returned to this page. I could not see how to enter a picture of the white cross together with a picture of the postmark. Also now have a ruby Pm

Ruby is attributed to Aberdeen. On the 'GB Coloured Maltese Crosses' page there are red placeholders to add images to. I did add one but uit has been filled since your last visit here, so I have added another for the white and there is one there also for a Ruby.

Both Images uploaded. The White MX is part of a complete envelope. The Cirencester town stamp is on the back of the envelope. Both shown together

PS I like the site. I also have a brown MX but you have a few illustrations of those.

You can add as much as you wish, its not limited

I can add the brown MX if you add a location. Also have Plymouth MX and Manchester "Fishtail" all on black stamp.

John this is a wiki your meant to add your own etc. If you click on the edit next to a section and copy a 'File' line and change the a, b, c etc to the next letter you can add your own. I'll do brown, but if you look here you can see what I added to do it. This is just to the brown section.
