Tiel is a municipality and a town in the middle of the Netherlands. The town is enclosed by the Waal river and the Linge river on the south and the north side, and the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal on the east side. The city was founded in the 5th century AD.

Stamped Dutch letter card, model 1871, delivered by subsidiary office Druten to TIEL. Dispatched from Tiel on 31 March 1871 and arrived in Nijmegen on 2 April 1871. Back to Tiel (arrival 3 April 1871) because addressee lived in Germany (not enough postage paid). According to instructions, Druten correctly postmarked with namestamp in red color. Collection of Jan Boon.
